A gripping and highly emotionally demanding story

The story was narrated in a very special way; that is, it is told by almost every major character on the scene. And I think perhaps it's the narration style, or perhaps it's the story itself that keeps me hooked to it. When I was halfway into the book, I thought Anna's parts were too few, but then I thought there would be a surprise at the end. Then there was! But of course it is not a nice surprise, but a saddening surprise! I felt so bad as I came to the end of the story and couldn't get over with the sense of frustration with life.
